Expand your horizons with longtime Gryphon friend and Grammy winner Mark Hanson’s new fingerstyle guitar workshop “Exercises, Etudes & Tunes.” Mark shows you the essentials of creating high-quality fingerstyle guitar music: covering hand position, technique and interpretation. Featured are a number of Mark’s new fingerstyle exercises, which you’ll put to use in new “Etudes” (music built using a particular technique) and a new Mark Hanson composition!
2) Get Started with Fingerstyle Improvisation – 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
At a loss for what to do after you play a tune one time through? Come take Mark’s new improvisation workshop and learn the strategies for expanding a tune: how to think, visualize, and “compose on the fly.” We’ll dissect rhythms and melodies, and learn how to use parts of them to create a new melody for your improvisation!
