Mark Presents Fingerstyle Classics Workshops in Palo Alto, California

Mark presents two workshops on fingerstyle repertoire (easy solos to more advanced) at famed Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, California. These are fun Mark Hanson arrangements, which he will explain and teach to you.

Workshop Descriptions
1) Classic Songs Arranged for Solo Fingerstyle Guitar (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
Gryphon regular Mark Hanson has over 2,000 arrangements/transcriptions/compostions in his files after many decades of doing this. In this workshop he outlines his arranging process (which won him a Grammy in 2005!), plus shares his easy-to-intermediate arrangements of these classic tunes: “Hallelujah” and “Ripple,” plus the more challenging but very cool “Sleepwalk.” Mark’s Arranging Fingerstyle Guitar Solos DVD will be available.
2) Recent Hit Songs Arranged for Solo Fingerstyle Guitar (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
In this workshop Mark shares his solo guitar arrangements of very recent tunes, including Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph,” Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” and Bruno Mars’ “Count On Me.” Mark walks you through the thinking process that produced these guitar solos and shows you how to play them. Also, bring in a request and Mark will conduct an ‘on-the-spot’ arrangement! Mark’s Arranging Fingerstyle Guitar Solos DVD will be available.
