  1. I have struggled for years trying to free my thumb, develop my thumb as the temp component of finger-picking.
I studied guitar many years ago as a teen. But, college, graduate school and hen career got in the way. Now in retirement I have studied guitar for several years with the help and teaching of Doug Smith. We pursue a mix of classical guitar, blues, and light rock. Most recently we have worked on songs by Steven Stills and Neal Young. Now, if only I can master the thumb.

    1. Sorry, Mark. Maybe Doug and I need to invent a machine like the great 19th C pianist Robert Schumann — it made his fingers go faster! (It also ruined them!) Play slow tunes. That will be easier! Mark
