Description
Mark’s 2015 book/recording, Travis Pick the Hits!, is a great source of SOLO GUITAR repertoire for those who have spent time working through Mark’s Contemporary Travis Picking and Art of Solo Fingerpicking – and even for those who haven’t!
The goal of Travis Pick the Hits! is to provide guitarists with enjoyable, playable arrangements of well-known popular songs in the alternating-bass fingerpicking style – no singing necessary. The song list includes ‘60s standards like “Happy Together” and “Brown Eyed Girl”, a Bob Marley reggae tune, and 21st-century hits from Maroon 5 and Coldplay, all complete with melody, harmony and bass lines. The guitar tuning is mostly standard, but several tunes use Drop-D and one uses C-Wahine (C G d g b e’).
The 12 songs were chosen for their popularity and for the innate musical characteristics that allow them to be successfully set in the alternating-bass fingerpicking style. The full-length recording features Mark performing all of the tunes in the book in their entirety. The book contains extensive explanations of each tune, describing techniques involved to make them all sound as good as possible! Standard notation and tablature.
