Student Recital Repertoire

Posted on Posted in Announcements, Stories, Tips from Mark

Our January 29, 2022, my student recital featured 26 tunes (see below) from 19 different players! All of these people are private students of mine, and all have recorded one or two videos of fingerstyle guitar solos for our online recital.

We used to have recitals in my home, but with the pandemic we have gone to Zoom broadcasts of pre-recorded videos. One advantage: Online broadcasts allow my students from around the world to participate!

These fingerstyle solos are mostly arrangements/compositions of mine, with a few from my friends like the late Pete Huttlinger and Doug Young. Here’s the list of tunes:

Set 1
Take Me Home, Country Roads
I Will
Rito Village Day
Ain’t Misbehavin’
Embryonic Journey
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Sleepwalk
Sweet Rotunda
Through the Years
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
All of Me
You Don’t Know Me

Set 2
There’ll Be Some Changes Made
Red River Valley
Red White & Blue Rag
Little Martha
‘Walking’ On Greensleeves
Dream Slack Key
Poems, Prayers & Promises
Bach’s Bouree
Escapism
We’ve Only Just Begun
In the Bleak Midwinter
In My Life
McGuire’s Landing

My complete list of teaching tunes — about 2,000! — can be found here: https://markhansonguitar.com/mark-hansons-lifetime-song-list/

I’ll update it regularly, as I add new arrangements weekly or monthly as I field requests from my students and put my arranging brain to work!
